American investment in the world started in 1960. They gave a lot of money to numerous countries like South America, the Caribbean, Canada, Asia and in the Pacific (especially Japan). Industrialisation contributed a lot in the U.S economy.
In 1971, the first oil crisis took place, and it was due to an oil’s production peak in the US. It’s during until the 80’s. This years were marked by the de-industrialization and by unemployment. So the question is what caused this oil shock particularly in France? This oil shock caused a destabilization of the entire world economy so clearly in France too. Moreover, France was one of the countries that has been the most affected by this oil shock. Afterwards the U.S had known a very increasing development during ten years. But 1990 is a year divided in two parts because the first part of the year was extremely beneficent and the second part (less long) was more worrying.
In France, the GDP was pretty high too, in 1970, it was up to 5,3 but it considerably decreased to eventually reached the negative values, in 1975. But we can ask ourselves the question : why such a diminution ? So we can explain a decrease like that by the fact, that the American’s oil shock stopped the world economy because it isolated it and there were less and less exportations to other countries. So this crisis arrived to France and its GDP considerably decrease. Then, in France, a year after, the rise of the GDP increase abruptly to 3,8 %. But this was not for long because only 4 years later it fell, sank at around 1,6 %. This was the second petrol shock. And it was not over, in 1985 it went back up to reach 3,4 %. in 1986 until 1990, to continue may the golf war make a change, influence, impact on the French economy and it might be the cause of the drop of the GPD in 1990, passing from 3,4% to 0,7 % that is 2,7 % less. Between 1998 and 2000 it rose up again, another time between 3 and 4% so at 3,6 % . To finish it is the stock market crash in the 2000 years so 2001-2002 and it stagnated at 1,3 % in 2003. That will continue to evolve in the same manere. We can see that even when it increases the rise does not reach again the highest rises of the GDP in France which kept is place from 1951 to 1974.
We observe that American economy have a large influence on the french economy. Firstly, when there is a oil shock in U.S, there are consequences on France economy, few years later. And secondly France follow the U.S economic protocol.
